Meadowgate Alpacas is a family run alpaca farm located in beautiful Beaverdam, Virginia. The farm was established in 2017 and is a working breeding farm. Meadowgate Alpacas maintains fewer than 30 alpaca. The farm sits on 10 acres of pastureland surrounded by forest and the Newfound River.

As of April 2021, Meadowgate started welcoming back visitors to the farm. Farm visits are private and scheduled by appointment only. They are welcoming groups of 10 or fewer, and masks are required for visitors age 5 and up.
Click HERE to schedule a farm visit. In-person visits are an hour and fifteen minutes. Up to 10 visitors is $80; 5 and less is $50.

We met Meadowgate Alpacas at an alpaca show at the Expo Center in Central Park in the fall of 2019. Out of all the farms there, they were one of the most friendly and helpful. They wanted our kids to get up close and personal with their alpacas, and they encouraged us to ask questions. They let us know about their upcoming open house and invited us to come. Pre-covid they offered free open houses at least twice a year–definitely worth a visit if these are offered again.
We participated in their 2019 holiday open house and had a great time. Nicole gave us an informational tour of the farm. We enjoyed learning about the daily care of the alpacas and all about their individual personalities. The kids loved choosing alpacas to take pictures with and especially loved picking out an alpaca cookie. Hopefully, in the future Meadowgate Alpacas will offer their open houses, but until then, schedule a personal visit.
