Metro Richmond Zoo

We love the zoo especially the Metro Richmond Zoo. It is smaller than the DC Zoo but has a lot to offer. Our favorite part is feeding the giraffes and the other animals. Oh, and feeding the budgies is a must. Make sure to purchase animal food and budgie sticks at the gift store when you first enter the zoo.

There really is so much to see and do at this zoo. We love the slower pace and the fact that you can get fairly close to some of the animals.

The Metro Richmond Zoo encompasses about 70 acres and houses around 2,000 animals representing over 180 species, including reticulated giraffe, white rhinoceros, snow leopard, cheetah and Grant’s zebra.
