Charming Hill Farm-Brandy Station

🐐This farm! Such a great place!

🐐We headed to Charming Hill Farm for the goats! And, this farm has a lot of them! They have approximately 40 goats and are expecting 20-30 kids this spring! Sounds like baby goat heaven!

🐐We were able to spend time with the first two goats of 2023–born less than a week ago, Chili and Curry. Every year, Farmer Matt picks a theme in which to name his new goats. This year it’s spices. He said he’s saving the name Poppy for the baby goat he wants to keep.

Charming Hill Farm has both Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf goats. New twins were born just a few hours after we left. We were really hoping to catch their birth. As of March 6, 2023, there are 9 kids to cuddle at the farm. There are approximately 15 goats still to deliver.

Farmer Matt established this farm in August 2020 during the pandemic.  At that time he had been living in the Fredericksburg area and was looking to expand his farm. This former alpaca farm was the perfect spot.

🐐All of the goats at Charming Hill Farm are very friendly and love to be pet! If you need goat therapy, head here!

🐓Charming Hill also has chickens, bunnies, ducks, peacocks, geese, horses, a pig, a donkey, and more.

🐐Farmer Matt is amazing! He’s so knowledgeable and friendly. He really made our experience top-notch. Loved hearing about the vision he has for his farm.

Things to Note:

Dress in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.  While we were visiting the new goats in the stall, my children wanted to get down on the ground with all the hay and poop. I should have thought to bring a towel or small blanket for them to sit on.

During our visit Farmer Matt gave my children animal crackers to feed the goats. The goats loved them and were jumping all over us.  Our clothes got so muddy.  Thankfully, we were wearing farm clothes and didn’t care too much about all the dirt.

💥Make a day of your visit to the Culpeper area:

✔️~10 miles to Rockwater Park (ninja course/playground/splash pad)

✔️~8 miles to State Climb (pay-what-you-like rock climbing)

✔️~11 miles to The Ole Country Store (best ice cream/inexpensive kayaking-canoeing nearby)

✔️~ 8 miles to Pintothai Culpeper (yummy Thai food in downtown Culpeper)
