This is by far the best Trunk-or-Treat in the area. It is worth the wait. You will get a lot of candy–even full-sized candy bars and bags of candy. We’ve attended this event for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed.
Where: 9119 Dean Ridings Ln, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22553 (Parking Lot)
When: Usually the Saturday before Halloween.
Time: 5-8 pm (This is the first year they are starting an hour early.)
2024 Date is Saturday, October 26th, 5-8 pm
Last year the event started at 6 pm. We arrived at 4:30 pm. There were already several people in line. If you are in line by 8 pm, you will get to go through the trunk-or-treat. When the event begins, small groups are allowed in to keep the flow.

10 TIPS:
- Go early. The line gets long quickly. We usually head there at least an hour and a half early. Either way you will spend your time waiting in line. The parking lot is roped off; there’s no need to worry about someone cutting in front of you.
- The earlier you go, the better parking you’ll get. The parking lots near the building and across the street fill up quickly. There are a lot of reserved spots near the sheriff’s department. Don’t waste your time heading there to check them out. You’ll miss nice parking spots across the street if you do.
- Bring a blanket and/or chairs if you don’t want to stand or sit on the ground.
- You may want to eat before you get in line or bring food with you. There are food trucks, but they usually don’t get there till closer to 5 pm. With the event starting earlier this year, I’m not sure if food trucks will get there earlier.
- Do not bring your own trick-or-treating container. The sheriff’s department will give you a bag for your candy. This will count as your ticket to get in. You cannot use your own container. The bags are just for the children-sorry adults.
- Wagons come in handy especially for tired kids or for a place to dump candy if your kids’ bags get too heavy. You will get A LOT of candy. Strollers are great, too, if you have little ones.
- Invite a friend. It’s more fun to wait in line if your kids have friends to play with and if you have someone to chat with.
- As long as you are in line before 8 pm, you will get to go through the trunk-or-treat area. The line is closed off at 8 pm.
- There’s PLENTY of candy. No matter how long the line is, you will still get candy. Only a few of the of the “trunkers” will give out just a piece or two of candy. Most give out handfuls or full sized candy bars or bags.
- Have fun! We love looking at all the costumes and seeing all the creativity.
