  • Home Depot offers FREE in-store children’s workshops the first Saturday of the month from 9 am – Noon while supplies last. Pre-registration is offered but not required. Paint is also provided if your children want to paint.
  • Lowe’s offers FREE in-store children’s workshops each month (dates vary), but you MUST pre-register for these. There is no painting involved.
  • JcPenney’s Kids Zone offers FREE crafts the 2nd Saturday of each month from 11 am – Noon.
  • Micahels offers FREE Craft Sunday Make Break Events. These in-store events happen between 2-4 pm. Check their schedule as they do offer some Saturday events.
  • Free books for children (12 and under) at a Rappahannock Goodwill location. Every child aged 12 and under gets any book of their choosing for FREE! Valid every Friday starting 9/6/24. Find a Goodwill near you at http://www.fredgoodwill.org

Pumpkin display in Centreville, VA, at the home of Noel Dickover as featured in the Cooperative Living October 2024 issue. This display can only be viewed on Halloween night at 14223 Hartwood Court in Centreville, VA.

The Haunted Graveyard is open Halloween night (Oct. 31) from 6-9 pm. This is located at 12729 Pickett Court, Spotsylvania. If you need more information, please call Debbie at 609-864-0557.

PUMPKIN PATCHES

Mount Olympus Farm in Ruther Glen has a large pumpkin patch. Admission is free. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Sarah’s Pumpkin Patch in Madison is open Saturdays (10 am – 5 pm) and Sundays (Noon – 5 pm). Fill a wagon for $65 or wheelbarrow for $80. Pumpkins are $0.80/lb.

Ebenezer UMC in Stafford will have a Pumpkin Patch Oct. 13 – 27 to benefit the Imagination Library.

Squinquarter Market in Richmond has a pumpkin patch is FREE to enter. It’s open daily from 9 am – 6 pm. They have hayrides, a hay mountain, a corn maze and sand pile for everyone to enjoy. Pumpkins are $0.79/lb.

  • Kingswood Subdivision off Harrison Road. The Forest of Lost Souls (Berwick Court) is open Halloween night at 7:30 pm. Free admission.
  • Ladysmith
  • Stafford Lake (Rt. 17), Royal Oaks (Rt. 3), Hamiltons Crossing, and Idlewild (Rt. 1) have lights and sidewalks
  • The Lisa Pitts Eley Cancer Foundation’s free-to-attend haunted house will take place on Halloween night from 7-10 pm. Each kid will receive a free treat bag. The haunted house is located at 6812 Winthrop Ct, Fredericksburg, in the Salem Fields neighborhood.
  • The Haunted Graveyard is open Halloween night (Oct. 31) from 6-9 pm. This is located at 12729 Pickett Court, Spotsylvania. If you need more information, please call Debbie at 609-864-0557. This neighborhood (Lake Wilderness 1 or 2) usually has lots of decorated houses.
  • 14355 Temple Lane in Culpeper. Bring your flashlights and come on down to Kavanaugh Meads! Come see me at 14355 Temple Lane in Culpeper! I’ve got toys, books, art kits, snacks and drinks for all the trick-or-treaters! Every trick-or-treater will get to pick one activity, one snack and one drink to take with them! So come early and pick out your treats! I’ll be out around 4pm on Halloween. Be sure to go see the rest of the neighbors! The horse farm across from me will have hot cocoa again.
  • The Jenkins Family will be welcoming trick-or-treaters from 4-8 pm on Hillview Court (behind Lowe’s) in Culpeper. They will have full-size candy bars.

From Monday, October 28, to Sunday, November 10, Sedona Taphouse in Fredericksburg is collecting Halloween candy for Treats for Troops.

Patient First will be providing FREE X-rays of Halloween Candy from October 27th – November 1st from 6 to 8 p.m. at all of our medical centers.

What to do with your pumpkins:

Haven Hills Farm in Bealeton is accepting pumpkin donations. They use the pumpkins to feed their animals. If you haven’t been to Haven Hills Farm, it’s worth a visit. You can tour the farm or even have a pony experience.
